Discerning of Devils

 

1 Cor 12:1 (KJV)

Now concerning spiritual  (pneumatikw/jgifts, brethren,

I would not have you ignorant.  --  1 Cor 12:1 (KJV)

 

Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.  --  1 Cor 12:2 (KJV)

 

Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.  --  1 Cor 12:3 (KJV)

 

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  --  1 Cor 12:4 (KJV)

 

And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.  --  1 Cor 12:5 (KJV)

 

And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  --  1 Cor 12:6 (KJV)

 

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  --  1 Cor 12:7 (KJV)

 

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;  --  1 Cor 12:8 (KJV)

 

To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;  --  1 Cor 12:9 (KJV)

 

To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:  --  1 Cor 12:10 (KJV)

 

 

But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.  --  1 Cor 12:11 (KJV)

 

What is the gift of Discerning of Spirits ?

Example #1 - MOSES  

 

And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory.  --  Exo 33:18 (KJV)

Example #2 - JACOB  

 

And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.  --  Gen 28:10 (KJV)

 

And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.  --  Gen 28:11 (KJV)

Example #3 - SAUL and the Witch  

 

And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.  --  1 Sam 28:1 (KJV)

 

And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.  --  1 Sam 28:2 (KJV)

Paul's Thorn

Example #4 - Daniel and the Princes of Greece and Persia

Example #5 - The Gadarenes

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.  --  Luke 8:28 (KJV)

 

(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)  --  Luke 8:29 (KJV)

 

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.  --  Luke 8:30 (KJV)

Meaning:  1) bottomless 2) unbounded 3) the abyss 3a) the pit 3b)  the immeasurable depth 3c) of Orcus, a very deep gulf or chasm in  the lowest parts of the earth used as the common receptacle of the  dead and especially as the abode of demons

 

 

And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.  --  Luke 8:32 (KJV)

 

Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.  --  Luke 8:33 (KJV)

 

When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.  --  Luke 8:34 (KJV)

 

Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.  --  Luke 8:35 (KJV)

 

They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.  --  Luke 8:36 (KJV)

Example #6 - The Unclean Spirit Gone Out of a man

 

Mat 12:43 (KJV)

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.  --  Mat 12:43 (KJV)

 

Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.  --  Mat 12:44 (KJV)

 

Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.  --  Mat 12:45 (KJV)

 

 

Example #7 - JESUS And JOHN The Baptist

 

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.  --  Mat 3:13 (KJV)

 

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?  --  Mat 3:14 (KJV)

 

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.  --  Mat 3:15 (KJV)

Example #8 - JESUS

 

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.  --  Mat 4:1 (KJV)

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.  --  Mat 4:3 (KJV)

Example #9 - ABRAHAM
