Roman Empire

During the days of Christ and the formation of the New Testament Church, the kingdom of Rome encompassed the entire area of Southern Europe, France, England, stretching into the Netherlands and Switzerland, incorporating the Southern parts of Germany, into Hungary, Turkey, and even swallowing up Greece.  It even extended itself into Asia and Africa.  It might be said that the Roman kingdom once filled the entire then known earth.  Although the kingdom is described as being exceedingly strong as iron, it eventually became weakened from within primarily due to moral degeneration and luxurious living.

Fragmentation Of The Roman Kingdom

The division of Rome, which was the beginning of the erosion of that entire kingdom, is spread over a period of one hundred and twenty-five years, from 351 A.D. to 476 A.D.  The breaking up of the Roman kingdom was primarily accomplished by the Germans, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks, Vandals, Suevi, Burgundians, Heruli, Anglo-Saxons, and Lombards.

Austria and Prussia united first by declaring war against France for the purpose of stopping the Revolution.

After driving back their invaders, the French armies did not stop.  Now they sought to impose their revolution on everyone.  France was soon at war with all of Europe.  The war lasted for 23 years.

Following the victories of the Reign of Terror, the first coalition of European powers fighting revolutionary France crumbled in 1795 and 1796.

Prussia, Spain, the Dutch Netherlands, and Tuscany (Toscana) signed peace treaties with France, leaving England and Austria to fight alone.

In October 1795 France annexed the Austrian Netherlands (now Belgium). The Dutch Netherlands became the first of many so-called French sister republics. France fitted it with a new, relatively democratic constitution closely patterned on the Directory. France also forced the Dutch Netherlands to pay it a large indemnity.

In 1796 and 1797 French armies swept into Italy and western Germany.

Perceiving in the French position both weakness and a continuing threat, England, Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and Austria formed a new anti-French coalition.

France was the first nation to permantly accept the Catholic Christianity as a national religion (496).  Because of their great devotion to the catholic church, the Moslems had actually called all christians "Franks"  It is also the first christian nation in europe to deliberately opose and renounce christianity.  France is therefore the first nation of europe who willingly turned officialy against the religion of Jesus.  This term is literally "antichrist".

Over the centuries, through their loyal devotion to Roman christianity, the french had learned all to well  how to fine, punis, torture, execute and exile their herertics.   The church had taught them so well.  But now the tide was turning.   The people throughout France now recognized that churchmen themselves were the ones who had been in error.  They were now considered to be the new heretics.  During the revoloution they executed approximately 5000 priests.  In one day, at one place the shot 83 of them.

One favorite french punishment for heretics was consignment to the slave galleys, to row until they rotted at the handles of the great oars.   The enraged people of France , in their hatred of the only kind of christianity they really ever new or had been permitted to know, sent 850 priests to the slave galleys.

At least 20,000 priests who chose to stay in France had abdicated their vocation and resigned from the priesthood following the example of their bishop.

The roman church had taught the king to send the protestants into exile.  Now the french would turn upon the roman church by sending upwards to 40,000 of them into exile.  Many fled to Spain, Italy, and England to save their lives.

and shall wear out the saints of the most High,

In Paris alone, a population of 700,000 people, at least 100,000 were aressted for one reason or another, many likely for standing against the revoloution and blaspemous crimes against the church.

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.  --  Rev 13:7 (KJV)

The French Revolution was outstanding for its hatred of Christianity and for its violence.   During its Bloody Reign of Terror, day after day for months  dozens of men and women, sometimes daily fifty or sixty men and women, shopkeepers, craftsman, day laborers, nobles, roaylty, politicians, etc., were decapitated by a falling knife device recommended by Dr. J. I. Guillotine and so named after him.

He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.  --  Rev 13:10 (KJV)

No one was safe as everyone had their one idea about what the revolution was about and how far it should go.  Anyone at anytime might be accussed of disloyalty to the revolution for one reason or another.  There was no legal defense, sometimes scarcely even a mock trial.

When the paris mob attacked the palace to take away the king, over 1000 people were trampled to death under the feat of the mob alone.  Guillotines were erected throught the cities but this wasn't enough for some.   Many people were herded into groups to be destroyed by canon fire.   The disposal of bodies became such a problem that many were put upon boats and then they boats were sank.

and think to change times and laws:

The French Revoloutionaries proposed and adopted and brand new calendar so that they might no longer recognize or celebrate the birth of Jesus.  The new year would now begin with the first year of their own Revoloution.  The new week would now contain 10 days, each 10th day would be called the "Decade Day" and would be considered as a holy day to celebrate the new Republic and its new pagan religion.   Even the names of the seasons were changed to "Snowy, Rainy, Windy, Foggy, Harvest, Hot, and so on".

On September 5 it approved the Reign of Terror, a policy through which the state used violence to crush resistance to the government.

On September 9 the convention established sans-culotte paramilitary forces, the so-called revolutionary armies, to force farmers to surrender grain demanded by the government.

On September 17 the Law of Suspects was passed, which authorized the charging of counter-revolutionaries with vaguely defined "crimes against liberty."

On September 29 the convention extended price-fixing from grain and bread to other essential goods and fixed wages.

On December 4 the national government resumed oversight of local administration.

Juno

Roman Queen Of Heaven

Wife Of Jupiter

The first celebration of the Revoloutionary religion harmonized with the new emphasis upon nature.  On August 10, 1973, a large image representing the Goddess Nature was set up in a prominient place.  As the people of Paris crowded in front of it, water squirted from its breasts into an ornamental pool.    An actor would solemnly address it with blasphemous prayers saying, "Soveriegn of Nations, savage or civilized!  Oh, Nature, this great people is worthy of Thee".

Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.  --  Dan 11:37 (KJV)

But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:

Ala Mahozine  -  the god of fortifications

There is no god of fortresses or forces known to the world however there is a goddess of forces or fortifications.

Cybele is called the goddess of forces or fortifications

Cybele is represented with a tower as a crown on her head why?

She was the first erected them in the cities.  The first city in the world after the flood having towers and encompassing fortifications or walls was Babylon.    Ovid writes that Semiramius, the first queen of Babylon was the one who had the city of Babylon surrounded by a brick wall.  This woman, or goddess if you will, can be identified as Babylon The Great, Mother of Harlots.

Cybele is the Roman Goddess of Nature

Cybele, Latin name of a goddess native to Phrygia in Asia Minor and known to the Greeks as Rhea, the wife of the Titan Cronus and mother of the Olympian gods. Cybele was a goddess of nature and fertility who was worshiped in Rome as the Great Mother of the Gods. Because Cybele presided over mountains and fortresses, her crown was in the form of a city wall, and she was also known to the Romans as Mater Turrita. The cult of Cybele was directed by eunuch priests called Corybantes, who led the faithful in orgiastic rites accompanied by wild cries and the frenzied music of flutes, drums, and cymbals.

But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:

and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.  --  Dan 11:38 (KJV)

Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.  --  Dan 11:39 (KJV)

Notice the strange similarities

Never did the Revoloution ever official abolish Christianity.  In fact, it proclaimed freedom of worship for all religions.

Soon all churches throughout Paris were officially closed, in spite of the proclammation about religious freedom and freedom to worship.

Much of the church's  Gold and silver was confiscated by the French government to be used to pay for the new national army.

One the second Decade day in the Foggy month (Nov 10), a young woman was chosen in stead of a statue to represent the Goddess Reason.   Draped in whiite with a mantle of blue, her flowing hair crowned woth the red cap of the Revoloution, she was worshipped in France's most prestigious cathedral, where for centuries prayers had once ascened up to "Our lady (Notre Dame)", the Mother of Jesus.

Notice that the goddess doesn't need Mary to be worshipped.

Cheers echoed and rechoed as an orator on behalf of everyone present embraced the woman.   Throughout France in many cities and villages a local woman would be chosen to play the part of the Goddess Reason.

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  --  Rev 13:16 (KJV)

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.  --  Rev 13:17 (KJV)

The National Assembly incorporated the church within the state, stripping clerics of their property and special rights. In return, the state assumed the large debts of the church and paid the clergy a salary. Dioceses were redrawn to correspond to departments. A presiding bishop would administer each diocese, with local priests beneath him. Since active citizens would elect the bishops and the priests, a Protestant, Jew, or atheist might be chosen to fill these positions. Finally, the Civil Constitution of the Clergy of 1790 required all priests and bishops to swear an oath of loyalty to the new order or face dismissal.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.  --  Dan 9:27 (KJV)

Almost half the parish priests and bishops (called the refractory clergy) refused to take the oath. This marked an important turn of events.  More than anything else, the Civil Constitution and the oath solidified resistance to the Revolution by giving the resistance a religious justification and publicly designating a group of influential individuals—the refractory clergy—as enemies of the new state.

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.  --  Rev 13:17 (KJV)

Although there were many reasons for the Civil Constitution, financial considerations were some of the most important. The government’s fiscal problems continued well past 1789,  beacuse of which it confiscated and sold the church’s considerable property holdings. The government justified this practice by saying that church property belonged to the nation.

The repressive policies of the Reign of Terror enabled the government to form and equip its large army at the expense of many French citizens’ security:

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  --  Rev 20:4 (KJV)

about 250,000 people were arrested;

17,000 were tried and guillotined, many with little if any means to defend themselves;

another 12,000 were executed without trial;

and thousands more died in jail.

Clergy and nobles composed only 15 percent of the Reign of Terror’s approximately 40,000 victims. The rest were peasants and bourgeois who had fought against the Revolution or had said or done something to offend the new order.

The end came in 1799 with the rising of  a military hero who became dictator,

Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte

Under Bonaparte, the Revolution, if it could be said to have remained alive at all, did so in the form of a military dictatorship that had far more power than any French king had ever possessed.

After he conquered, he imposed his will upon the conquered.  Eventually he even turned against his ally Russia.

The Roman Church Recieves A Mortal Wound

Changing attitudes toward Roman Christianity

In 1798 Napoleon intended there would never be another pope.  In 1801 however he signed a state treaty with a new pope.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:   --  Dan 9:27 (KJV)

In 1870 the newly emerging nation of Italy deepened the churches woes for a while by taking away the Papal States, a considerable portion of the Itallian peninsula which the church had owned for centuries.

America and the Roman Catholic Church

In the 1800s there were strong tides of American hostility flowed against the Roman Catholic Church.  In the 1840s an  antiCatholic political party known as the American party and as the Know-nothing Party won almost all the seats in the Massachusetts legislature and large votes in New York and Pennsylvannia at a time when a far higher percentage of Americans than today lived on the Eastern seaboard.

When Colonel Stephen W. Kearney in 1846 dared to invite some priests to accompany the Catholic soldiers in his Army of  the West as it marched out of Kansas City to take California away from Mexico, he was barraged with criticism from Washington.

When Pope Pius IX in 1852 sent a block of marble to be included in the Washington Monument, then being erected. mass protests were conducted.  So intense was American outrage that the masons did not dare hoist the big stone into place.   Two years afterward feelings were still running so high that a group of irrate Americans found where the stone lay in a storage shed, threw a chain around it, and dragged it into the Potomac.

Italy brings healing to the wound of the Roman Catholic Church

Benito Mussolini led Italy from 1922 to 1943.

He founded the first fascist political group and

later allied his country with Germany in World War II.

In 1929 Benito Mussolini signed a concordat granting the pope full authority over the State of Vatican City, 108.7 acres in Rome which include St. Peter's Cathedral.

Once again the pope became a monarch as well as a priest.   One might say that the deadly blow to the head of the Vatican was also now being healed.

American anti-Catholicism was still very much alive a century later, even after Mussolini's 1929 concordat, had revealed that at least in Europe the feelings against the papacy where changing.   The wound for all intent and purposes was healing.

When President Harry Truman on Oct 20, 1951 asked the Senate to approve his nomination of an Ambassador to the State of Vatican City, AMerica was plunged into a vortex of protest and agony.   Hardly a Protestant church group in the country failed to express its opposition formally.   The president for this reason withdrew his proposal.

On march 1984, only thirty three years later, President Ronald Reagon's nomination of William A. Wilson as ambassador to Vatican City was quickly approved by the Senate, 81-13.  Only a few voices of worry were heard concerning the seperation of church and state.

Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte crowned himself emperor of France in 1804.  He is largely responsible for the break up or dissolving of the Holy Roman Empire.

On July 12, 1806, 16 German princes gathered in Paris and formally signed an act of confederation. The act dissolved their connection with the Holy Roman Empire and, in effect, allied them to France as satellites. As a result, Francis II, who had proclaimed himself emperor  of Austria in 1804 when he foresaw the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, resigned his title of Holy Roman emperor, and the empire came to an end.

If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;  --  Lev 26:40 (KJV)

And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:  --  Lev 26:41 (KJV)

Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.  --  Lev 26:42 (KJV)

The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.  --  Lev 26:43 (KJV)

And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.  --  Lev 26:44 (KJV)

But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.  --  Lev 26:45 (KJV)

These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.  --  Lev 26:46 (KJV)

There will be a judgement upon Israel, plus seven times more judgement.

First judgement began with Nebuchadnezzar's Babylonian Captivity  (606 B.C.)

According to prophecy, the final Babylonian kingdom would be postponed to allow for the seven more times to pass over

Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.  --  Dan 4:10 (KJV)

The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:  --  Dan 4:11 (KJV)

The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.  --  Dan 4:12 (KJV)

I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;  --  Dan 4:13 (KJV)

He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:  --  Dan 4:14 (KJV)

Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:  --  Dan 4:15 (KJV)

Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him: and let seven times pass over him.  --  Dan 4:16 (KJV)

This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.  --  Dan 4:17 (KJV)

This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.  --  Dan 4:18 (KJV)

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.  --  Dan 4:19 (KJV)

The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;  --  Dan 4:20 (KJV)

Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:  --  Dan 4:21 (KJV)

It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.  --  Dan 4:22 (KJV)

And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;  --  Dan 4:23 (KJV)

This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:  --  Dan 4:24 (KJV)

That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.  --  Dan 4:25 (KJV)

And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.  --  Dan 4:26 (KJV)

The great god, once stripped of his power and cut down almost to the ground will one day spring back to life.  Here we see the great serpent being the symbol of resurrection as is all to common with the image of Aesculapius who is generally represented with a stick or branch of a tree at his side having a serpent twining around it.  The tree is to once again sprout back to new life.  It is very common throughout the myths of the world and their religions.

William I

The 2nd Reich

Prussian king William I was proclaimed German Emperor in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, outside of Paris, on January 18, 1871. He was made emperor after a coalition of German states under Prussian leadership was victorious over France in the Franco-Prussian War. The war had been orchestrated primarily by Prussian statesman Otto von Bismarck, who hoped that a successful war against a common enemy would encourage the German states to join Prussia in forming a German Empire. His plan was successful.

Otto von Bismarck

Prince Otto Edward Leopold von Bismarck, a Prussian statesman, united the German states into one empire. Bismarck is noted for saying that the great problems of Germany would not be settled by speeches and resolutions but by "blood and iron."

In 1914 A.D. World War I began a chain of events that would cause Jerusalem to be released from the dominion of the 7th head of John's beast, that is to say Muslim rule, and  to fall into the hands of the final kingdom, which is represented initially by the ten toes.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.  --  Rev 17:12 (KJV)

In 1917 A.D., the British general, Edmund Allenby, led his troops to surround the city of Jerusalem.  Allenby arranged to have every available aircraft to fly over Jerusalem.  The Turks, having never seen aircraft before, were extremely frightened.  As the aircraft flew low over Jerusalem, it is reported that one of the pilots dropped a note demanding the surrender signed by General Allenby.

The name Allenby further frightened the Turks thinking that the name was Allah meaning God and beh meaning son, which they interpreted as the Son of Allah.   In response to the note, the Turks hoisted a white flag and surrendered the city without firing a shot.
