Nimrod the mighty hunter was the original builder of the city of Babylon

Targum of Jonathan (ancient Jewish commentary) interprets the phrase MIGHTY HUNTER to be MIGHTY REBEL AGAINST GOD.

Babylon must be rebuilt !

There were  Jews living in Babylon in A.D. 25  and Peter wrote his epistle in Babylon around A.D. 60

 

The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.  --  1 Pet 5:13 (KJV)

 

 

Around the middle of the 5th century  Theodoret speaks of Babylon as being inhabited by Jews and there were three Jewish universities at Babylon.  From out of these universities coomes forth the world recognized Babylonian Jewish Talmud.

 

A.D. 917  Ibu Hankel mentions Babylon as an insignificant village but still in existence.

 

1100 A.D. Babylon had grown into a town of somewaht importance.  It was known as the town of the two mosques.

 

After 1100 it was enlarged, fortified, and renamedas Hillah or Rest.  In 1898 Hillah contained at least 10,000 inhabitants, and was surrounded by fertile lands and abundant date groves stretched along the banks of the Euphrates.

 

Prophetic doom of Babylon has never been fulfilled.

 

It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.  --  Isa 13:20 (KJV)

HOW IS BABYLON  TO BE DESTROYED ?

BABYLON  TO BE DESTROYED IN 1 HOUR

What is the significance of the man' heart ?

Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:  --  Dan 4:15 (KJV)

Was there a dual fulfillment of prophecy here ????

 

 

First judgement began with Nebuchadnezzar's Babylonian Captivity  (606 B.C.)

 

According to prophecy, the final Babylonian kingdom would be postponed to allow for the seven more times to pass over

 

 

Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:  --  Dan 4:15 (KJV)

According to the Babylonian myths,

 

 

The great god, once stripped of his power and cut down almost to the ground will one day spring back to life. 

 

Here we see the great serpent being the symbol of resurrection as is all to common with the image of Aesculapius who is generally represented with a stick or branch of a tree at his side having a serpent twining around it.  The tree is to once again sprout back to new life.  It is very common throughout the myths of the world and their religions.
